I'm not sure how I missed this fashion editorial from Harper's Bazaar earlier this year [shot by Peter Lindbergh], but it's right up my alley. I love the concept of taking photographic and fashion inspiration from fine art...oh yeah, and Julianne Moore and her fiery red locks are pretty amazing, too!
"Adele Bloch-Bauer I", 1907 by Gustav Klimt
"Madame X", 1884 by John Singer Sargent

Gorgeous shots. Thank you for sharing!
It's actually Julianne Moore :)
Ooh this editorial is really awesome!
Also, I loved the photos in your last post - everyone looks so lovely and fun!
Hi there-you're so right, these are stunning pictures!! Happy new year my dear!
This is a very creative editorial! Love how she imitates great pieces of artwork!
Did they show the inspiration in the magazine or did you find it by yourself? I've always loved Klimt, so much... :)
I think the first three images of Julianne Moore are my favorite! There's something about them that just looks so true to the tone of the pictures...
Happy New Year, dear!
Lovely stuff! Julianne Moore is great. I'm also a big fan of Gustav Klimt and John Singer Sargent.
autumn -- Of course!!
mishka -- Thanks, LOL. I always get her name mixed up with the author's name...
miss karen -- Yes, my friends are all frustrated comedians I think, ;)
sharon -- happy new year to you as well!!
fashion addict -- Thanks, this is one of my favorite editorials this year, I think.
tamara -- I'm not actually sure, because I got it through a secondary source that had the paintings side-by-side. I wish I could get a hold of the original magazine!
Ashe -- I agree, the photographer did a great job. While they are not exact, they really evoke the style and mood of the originals!
Brigid -- Me too! I forget sometimes how amazing Sargent was...
Amazing shots, I wish I could take photos like these!!!
So clever! I always love a good cover song. Or, um, stylist re-interpretation.
paradis -- Me too! I will need a better camera first ;)
sarah von -- good way of putting it: like a cover song in the form of photography!
This was my favorite Bazaar fashion feature of 2008. They don't always get it right but when they do, WoW!
These are wonderful!
Loved this; so glad you posted it. Thanks!!
