Weekend Reads: Links to the Strange and Beautiful

♥ I'm intrigued by the idea of getting a glimpse into the inner-workings of a genius: Explore Darwin's House in Kent with this insightful online tour of his home and office.

♥ Forget the natural look and turn to an 80's favorite for makeup inspiration this year: Boy George on the Runway '09.

♥ Tavi, the tiny style guru designed an amazing tee along with Archive Society. The Tavi T-Shirt is inspired by Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2008.

♥ I'm a bit of a horror fan-girl, and I love kitschy vintage posters, so this collection of 100 horror movie illustrated posters is right up my alley!

♥ This photography exhibit explores the creepy and surreal landscape of abandoned and out-of-business shopping centers. Check out Stores that are no more...

♥ This clever endeavor by artist Alicia Lynn Carrier is perfect for an impoverished art collector: just send her an idea and she will create one of her Ten Dollar Drawings for you!

♥ I love collecting vintage maga-zines,
and I have to admit vintage Playboy's are my favorite, particularly the bright, cheeky covers from the 50's and 60's. But, collecting can get expensive, so now you can take a peek at the Playboy archive online!

Virtual Shopping at Topshop, NYC

Not to harp all week on Topshop and Kate Moss, but I just can't help doing some virtual shopping [that is, online window shopping] of the new line released today. I am sitting here imagining the insanity of the NYC store at this very moment and feeling simultaneously happy and a bit regretful not to be there amidst the madness. Kate's line is even more amazing than I expected [and more pricey!]. Of course, I am drawn to her flapper-inspired pieces, but she also has a range of other goodies: Liberty prints, flowy bohemian dresses, 80s-inspired body-con numbers, and lots of ruffles and sequins!! Here are five of my favorites, all with a 20's theme:

Five-Year Run of Domino Magazine for Sale!!

Just a quick, shameless plug: I am selling all of my back issues of Domino Magazine, not because I necessarily want to but because I need some extra money. They have been selling quite well on Ebay, so I'm giving it a go! If you or anyone you know is looking for issues, I am selling a large lot of 32 magazines, running from the 2005 premiere issue to the last issue in March. I am only missing 4 issues total from those 5 years. These have been well-loved and I hope someone else will get as much inspiration from them as I have!!

Here is the Ebay link to my listing.
