Do you ever feel torn between two loves? Ever get the funny feeling you might have multiple personality disorder?
No? Maybe it's just me...
Let me explain: a few weeks ago [you may recall] I was drawn uncontrollably to the glittering opulence of Lagerfeld's pre-Fall show -- gold, fur, jewels, emboidery, shiny headpieces. This week, I am completely smitten by Alexander Wang's newest collection: minimal, wearable, sleek, tailored-yet casual. I find myself wondering how I can reconcile these two tastes. At times I wish I were one of those people that had a very distinctive aesthetic and approach to dressing. But, I'm just too changeable, curious, restless. Maybe this is actually a force of inspiration and creativity!? Do you ever feel torn between various styles, or do you just let everything inspire and inform you?

I know what you mean! I feel the same way after seeing these shots - I think I must have a split personality disorder or something hehe.
Hi there-I love this collection!! I like all different styles, especially to try, thrifting allows that on a cheap budget! happy new year!
I find myself in the same situation all the time, I'm a multiple personality, all my friends know lol
But actually, when it comes to what I wear, I'm not too adventurous unless on special occasions like going to parties.(because when I dance I'm in dresses and heels all the time lol )
I like to wear simple, comfortable but not too casual and a bit feminine clothes, I also love pretty/bright colours and like to wear them with black.
I also wear comfortable shoes all the time, because when I dance I wear heels. So that kinda restricts the style of clothings I can wear...
Oh, I know exactly how you feel, darling! I also tend to change my style a lot, and sometimes wish I had a more specific look that everyone knew was ME. But I still think it's fun to see how different I can look - not to mention how people react to my outfits. It's almost a little strange, because after a while it's become very clear how different outfits appeal to different people, or make me "fit in" (or stand out!) at a particular event. One of my guy-friends always gives me a compliment when I dress more trendy/modern, while some others seem to prefer my 50s dresses with pigtails :p
Since I realized this, I find it a little easier to dress for certain events, such as this year's christmas party for my college. I knew that 99% of the girls would dress in long, strapless dresses made of a shiny fabric, with a perfectly curled updo and shiny lipgloss. Since I kind of like standing out now and then, I decided to go the completely opposite way, and dressed in an almost inappropriately short dress made of cotton, with a tartan pattern and pockets. I combined this with a really messy updo, my highest heels in a soft green colour, and a small top hat with a veil... it worked like a charm, and I think I got 20 compliments on the hat alone!
I realize this has become a rather long comment, but I'm rather passionate about your choice of topic ;) I think you should keep your style just as unpredictable as it is - I think we'll know "our" style when we see it. No need to rush, right?
Airam -- thank you so much for your always thoughful comments! I am glad there are others who feel the same. Over the past few years, I have really just tried to pay closer attention to the kinds of things I am naturally drawn to...and allow myself to have those multiple-personality moments without worrying too much -- and of course just having fun!
