Weekend Excursions.

I'm counting down the days until two upcoming getaways I have planned...

I booked two overnight trips in October and November for me and the boyfriend {we are in desperate need of an escape...}. I have been yearning for a vacation for a while, but until we can save up for a big, international excursion, these little weekend jaunts will definitely tide us over.

In October we are going to Eureka Springs, Arkansas for a stay at the Crescent Moon Hotel and Spa -- a gorgeous Victorian building, today considered to be one of America's most haunted hotels. There is going to be a ghost tour...and some spa pampering. Seems like a perfect combination! In November, for our anniversary, we are going to stay at the Price Tower in Bartlesville. Price Tower is one of architecture's best kept secrets -- it is a skyscraper built by Frank Lloyd Wright, right in the middle of Oklahoma's beautiful prairie. If you live near OK, or you are just an architecture buff, it is definitely worth the trip.

I am so looking forward to some R&R in the upcoming months! What about you, my lovely readers? Do you have any vacations or getaways planned? Sometimes the quick, weekend trips are more relaxing than the long vacations...you should treat yourself!

Looks like you are going to have some ultra special and wonderful trips ahead - wishing you a great time, Tara! I cannot agree with you more on quick weekend jaunts being more relaxing (perhaps more enjoyable too!) than long journeys/vacations. The long-haul flights, waiting in airports, the packing and unpacking, the jet lags etc. Boy I am so tired now after being in Asia for one month. We are moving (out of the UK!) towards the end of November too... The thought alone enervates me. Although we will still spend 3 months a year in London in the future, it breaks my heart to leave, not to mention having to pack up everything in our current place where we've been living for about 4 years!! Yuck...

"Hello, Agin" says Tenement Tommy. I hope all is going well in OK. If you are ever looking for a REAL getaway, then let me propose scenic Martin, TN! There are cow pastures! Soybean fields! Corn fields! and more cow pastures! Plus, there is a plush bed and breakfast known simply as The Longacre, where you'll be pampered with hot coffee and cold cereal in the morning and a nice cozy bunk bed to sleep in!

Martin: A State of Mind.

I've just discovered a hotel in here where you can sleep in houses in the trees! Amazing, my childhood dream... Im seriously thinking about going there for a weekend, but, it is only 20 mins away from home by car!

Tara! Are your crazy?! I would literally pee my pants if I had to stay in a haunted hotel. But I can't wait for your blog post about it ;)

I love the Crescent! There used to be a cat living in the lobby that fascinated me as a little girl. Doubt he/she is still there, but I think every old hotel needs a cat. Have fun!

Okie -- I've done the tour as well, and ever since then I have wanted to go back and stay!

Sam -- Yes, the bronze has turned the most amazing green. It is really stunning. Thanks for the encouragement about grading...unfortunately, it is never done ;)

Poesis -- Oh, that all sounds exciting but exhausting!

Bloodmilk -- Oh, I am so excited. I will be taking pictures! I wish I had an EMF reader...maybe I can bring a tape recorder, too!! I want to see ghosts so bad!

Blake -- LOL. I am already planning a trip there. You better have the guest quarters ready. James and I expect luxury.

Ithunter -- That sounds amazing! I also used to dream about sleeping in a tree house or a house on stilts in the rain forest!
