Current Obsession: Silk Trophy Jackets

I've become obsessed with silky, flowy tops and dresses lately, so it makes sense that my obsession would grow into a full-fledged mania upon seeing all of the "trophy jackets" popping up on runways [and on the Topshop site, where they now have their own category!]. I love the sequins, embroidery, buttons, and general embellishments of the new jackets for Summer '09, but my favorite has to be the loose-fitting, large-lapel silk versions. These have a casual, comfortable elegance that I am loving right now...

Oh, I've been eyeing that blue silk jacket from Topshop too... I'm usually very annoyed by the fact that topshop doesn't ship to Norway, but this time it might be fortunate since it might keep me from starving this summer.

oh my. they're gorgeous. pardon my ignorance: why are they called trophy jackets?

Airam -- I know! That jacket is gorgeous!

Tom -- Don't worry, I didn't know the term until recently myself. It is just a reference to the "fanciness" of the jackets, I suppose. They are made of luxury material or have luxury details [silk, brocade, sequins, etc.], so they are like a trophy you show off!!??

Goodness me! They are gorgeous! The Top Shop one in cream and orange is something I'd love to have in my wardrobe!

i'd never even heard of them before...
they look like eveningwear, something that would go really well over a simple elegant dress, or even just jeans.
i really love the patterned ones, they would certainly be a statement!
