[Oh lord, I get worse and worse with my corny titles...I just can't help it.] I have been reading about 20's fashion quite a bit as of late, and I feel so inspired! The problem is that I'm a rather curvy girl, and the long, lean looks of the 20's just don't quite do my figure right! After momentarily lamenting this fact, I remembered that I had a very 20's-style cloche hat that I had never worn. Since my hair was looking frightful, I decided to give it a go. I received a compliment from an older gentleman at a coffee shop, which I took to be a good thing, indeed! I might have to slowly work some 20's items into my wardrobe more often...

By the way, I am feeling quite proud of myself for keeping up with outfit posts, but that is probably going to stop for a while because my boyfriend/photographer is going out of town for a bit. So sad. I really need to learn how to use my camera's self-timer! I do have a lovely outfit planned for New Year's involving fringe/sequins/lace/feathers -- yes, all at once. I will definitely force one of my friends to take some shots...though I will be feeling quite sad not to have my man to kiss at midnight.

I've been following your blog for a while and I just want to tell you how much I love it. I am also a young woman living in the midwest and adore how you show that great style and a non-coastal location are not mutually exclusive. Also, I think it's fantastic how you mix in fashion history, literature, art, and the unpretentious spirit of the midwest with your style. Keep up the great work!

Corny titles are fun, as long as the writer knows that they're corny ;) I also love 20's fashion, but, yes, it's a hard thing to pull of if you're more a Marilyn than an Audrey (I would know!). That outfit looks great, though, I really like the print on the dress.
I find that I appreciate compliments from older gentlemen more (in one way) than from those my own age. Probably because with the older ones I know they think I look elegant and stylish, rather than just something they can imagine... feeling up in a closet, you know? :p
Girl, I have the same problem with 20s stuff as you. I'm short and curvy, so I look much better in 50s style, but I love the Roaring Twenties! Maybe that's why I cut my hair the way I do. I totally need a cloche. There's an Etsy seller I love with one I've been eyeing since the beginning of time.
P.S. I can hear Jenny Lewis singing "It's gonna be a cloche call" in my head. :)

Lovely outfit- and that cloche looks great on you! Cath and I have the same problem with the 20s. We love it, but it makes short girls like us look like we are wearing mumus... drop-waisted dresses are not our friends. Can't wait to see the NYE outfit!

The thing that was harder to figure out than the self-timer (it's cake, I promise!) was where to *put* the camera. The boyfriend's tripod is my best friend these days.
Oh you look so wonderful! I've got a bit of jelly and curves too but sometimes I love something so much I just go ahead and wear it anyway. I think there will be a 20s style dress that will suit you.
