My hair is finally growing out {it's almost past my shoulders now}! My layers are practically gone, and my hair feels so thick. I'm recalling all of the fun things you can do when you actually have hair to play with. I have recently been experimenting with Edwardian/Gibson Girl styles: big, soft, feminine, and pouffy. Though I need to figure out how to get even MORE volume. I love the idea of offsetting this old-fashioned hairstyle with some very modern-looking clothes. Do you know who is an expert at the neo-Edwardian look {and insanely beautiful, to boot}? The lovely Harps from House of Harps blog. I don't even begin to do her justice, but her style is SO inspiring! And speaking of inspiration, here is some more Gibson goodness for your Monday...

you look absolutely lovely! bravo :)
You look divine!! It is a very sexy and beautiful hair, I wish I could do it too...I have too much hair...
Oh, I adore your hair! You look amazing in this picture, darling :) I just realized that I've completely forgot to reply to your manifesto-mail, I'm so sorry. It's been so much to do with the concert and all, and now I've suddenly got a horrible cold and can barely breathe at all. Blah. But before we "set the date" for my contribution, perhaps you could give me a little help? I'm still rather undecided on what to write about, and I still haven't grasped the concept of a manifesto completely. Do you have some links I might take a look at, or some suggestions on what you'd like me to write about? :)
yes that lass from house of harps gets incredible volume with her hair & it still looks soft! as a long haired person i always aspire to this, i should practice more. thanks for the link!
XO
Annie -- Thanks lady!
Kira -- Honestly, I think the more hair you have, the better it could look!
Airam -- Thank you so much. I'm so sorry to hear you've been sick...it seems like everyone is sick right now [my poor boyfriend has been under the weather for several days!] I will try to e-mail you some more info on the manifestos...
Blood Milk -- I agree...I have no idea how she gets it so voluminous, yet so soft!
Aww this is so sweet of you. Gotta love those glorious Gibson Girls! I must say, you look ravishing.
I did consider doing a video tutorial explaining how I do my hair, but I'm too shy! Just make sure you have lots of bobby pins handy and plenty of hairspray! xx
Harps -- You should definitely do a tutorial!! I did use almost my entire canister of bobby pins, so I can see what you mean. I also bought a new hairspray that is supposed to hold well without being to sticky or hard...we'll see if that helps with the volume.
YES! I support large hair, in all forms. Especially in large, cotton candy poofs! Have you seen the Czar's children's hair? Gorgeous...I did a post a little while back on it. They did it better than anyone else:

You better have pics when you're done creating the Gibson look!
Lauren
Lauren -- I will keep working on the look and keep you updated! My dad also found me a gorgeous Edwardian lace shawl that I'm going to try and clean and turn into an ensemble of some kind...I'm off to look at your link!
She is beautiful and so are you! I think their may be a lot of teasing involved!
Awesome-tastic post, I love the Gibson girl-look.
I love this soft look! You do it so well, especially with the red lips.
Jill -- You are sweet!!! Yes, I think I need to perfect my teasing technique...or maybe I have the wrong comb?
Milla-- Thanks, m'dear! Yes, Gibson girls have always held a sort of mystique for me.
Courtney -- Thanks! Though I'm sure the sweet, innocent Gibson girls never wore fiery red lipstick ;)
Snap - I'm finally getting a bit of length on my hair too - it's fun to have long hair again - I'm thinking of even getting a soft perm!! Can you imagine!! You look gorgeous here - I think this style suits you very well!
Sam -- A perm!! I'm sure perms have improved since I had my last one at 12 years old...let's just say it was BAD. My hair is naturally wavy these days, so I can go either straight or curly. I would love to hear about your perm experience if you decide to get one!
you so lovely. (yes, i left out the verb on purpose, hehe.)
i love helena bonham carter's big hair. she's the reason i actually like my hair when it's freshly washed, puffy-scraggly, and a creepy-lookin'.

Amazing photos.
Sara -- I agree about Helena; she always looks like a edgy, modern Victorian lady!
Malka -- thank you so very much!
Adore the bouffant. So classic--and the illustrations are beyond awesome. Have always loved his work.
