Current Obsession: Red Eyeshadow

Inspired by my recent passion for Chan Wook-Park's violent but redemptive film Sympathy for Lady Vengeance, I am craving blood-red shadow like the beautiful protagonist Geum-ja wears...

This lovely French lady below pulls it off perfectly somehow, without looking over-the-top. I think fair skin and dark hair might be key!

I really like the idea of a bit of sparkle...

What do you think?? Is red shadow something you would consider trying?

  2. probably not on me because I have a darker complexion but I guess it could work. I love the last pic of Mk OLSEN!

  3. Red was a fantastic choice when I had dark red and dark brown hair. The pale/dark contrast was striking. Now back to a strawberry blonde, I have to tone it down a bit. Mac made a great palatte in the fall called "Dangerzone." The red is mineral w/ a slight shimmer. Definitely a fashion staple. You should also look into red liners. Not the bright fiery reds, but a deep, rich dark cherry makes a really unique statement.

  6. Fantastic! Takes me back to my youth when I was a little bit in love with being a goth! Except I didn't use eye shadow - I used my lipstick!! I don't think I could get away with it now - but it looks fab on these gals!

  7. i like it around the french girl's light brown eyes...
i think it also looks good around coal black eyes...
but around blue eyes like mine, it might feel too much. maybe not, though.

  8. I think you try it. But I think I would look like a diseased victim :( so I will leave it to you. Lady Vengeance does look pretty interesting - Asian cinema is always a lot of fun. This weekend I'm off to see a Korean vampire movie called Thirst. Should be fun and startling at the same time.

There's a tag and several awards waiting for you on my blog!

  9. I used to put red shadow all around my green eyes when I was younger, and it looked great and mysterious (I loved it!)
But now that I am a bit older, it’s not so good, because people ask me if I have some allergic reaction or if I have drunk too much! ;)

  10. Annie -- It is very geisha-like...and I love geishas, so there ya go!

Rachel -- Yeah, I think this would work on some people, but it might depend on hair, eye, and skin color.

Simpatico -- I think I am going to check out Mac to see what they have to offer; I love the idea of a darker cherry red!

Kira -- not for everyone...maybe not even me, HA!

Sam -- Girl, I was all gothed-out myself! I never thought to try lipstick...though I have very oily skin and that would probably have been a smeary disaster.

Okiefem -- you might look ill, LOL!

ana b. -- You should definitely check out Lady Venegeance -- it is one of the best films I've seen in a while. I'm VERY excited to see Thirst, though it will probably take ages to get here...

NeonN -- Yes, I think when I try it for the first time, it will be in a dark place!

  12. I tied it already:) I was pleased with the result, but I felt so inconvinient on the street: all people, and especially my friends were staring at me! Or at least, that was my feeling:)

    Love your blog!<3
